Well you responsed to me not long after say that but "meh". If you want to stalk me there's not a lot I can do about it
I love it when people say Rts are useless I used to think the same, when I started using one and now I love them,

Don't take me wrong, I love the heroes (despite the fact that they are overpowered and more fexible than my own characters, that is). But Razah was supposed to be special.

1. Who said the hero was meant to be unique and special?
2. How are heros overpowered and more flexible? The only meaning I can see is they have access to all skills on your account, where as players have to collect skills on a character basis.
A preview of upcoming chapters? Can't you just be happy with Nightfall it's barely 2 month old and already getting new content.

So it appears the Ritualist HERO is an ugly looking guy…. Darn… I had hope for a well figured female model to attend to my Characters spiritual needs.

Actually Anet did by writing it down in the manual on page 61.
Razah: profession: variable

You mean the new content like the elite mission that should have been in the game on release date? And that was also insinuated to exist in the manual on page 121: special missions. People looked for more than a week to find it as they expected the mission to be ingame like with the other campaigns.
Now I don't mind, we are a few hours away from the big update. I'm happy with nightfall in general, but new content to me is like when Sorrow's Furnace was added to the game. It's possible there will be some new content too in the coming update ofcourse.

Well, technically as Razah was not in-game, and did not have a profession, then it was indeed variable at the time of the manual's writing. Anet gets to choose it though, and they chose ritualist
Or he could be subject to more tweaks before the full implementation.

Indeed one can see it from that point of view. Nevertheless they can write a big 'variable' on the cover of the manual and write down in it whatever they want to. It's a bit exaggerated but I think you get the idea where I'm coming from. I'll welcome the hero no matter what though

I'm just sad because I really was expecting the ability to change Razah's primary profession. People saying "But there was no Ritualist!" should note that if we could change his primary profession, we could certainly damn well change it to Ritualist when we wanted one.
I'm sure it was Insurmountable Technical Difficulties that doomed profession variability, but it still makes me sad. I was looking forward to builds that had up to four of the same profession between me and my heros.
But Alas, variable Razah seems to have gone the way of the pygmy hippo.

You guys are basically saying he was already intended to be a Ritualist. Well if that was true; why did it take so long to get him into the game? Considering they had plenty of time to kill any of the bugs up to the release or up to this point. You could answer back by saying, he was meant for the elite mission, which was never finished until recently. If that was true then why did they hold him back so long (most information was tight lipped, even when asked), and what made him so special that he can only be accumulated in the elite mission? I really believe there were problems with what they tried to do, and gave up and made him into a plain Rit (since that is what people were expecting anyways).

Razah is a rit. Yet, in the manual it said he can be any professions he wanted.

Razah is a rit, true. Manual saying X is a pointless argument, the manual says other things which didn't come to pass which has all been covered to death. I'm happy with the rit personally, and most other folks are as well (with the possible exception of those people who only have NF so have a 'somewhat limited' rit skillset to choose from). Then the are those of you who like to whine about everything ;P

The major programming "flaw" is probably that the skills menu cannot swap primary profession, only secondaries. Razah's variable profession thing would likely involve a total revamp of the skills and attributes panel. Not to mention, the inventory panel would have to have more flexibility as well, since his armor and runes would need to be changed whenever he changes profession.
(This is my opinion, don't go around telling everyone this)

They could probably have an npc utility to change profession for razah without too many problems (like have it automatically dump any inappropriate runes into inventory...), but thats a little unwieldy player side in that you'd have to go to the npc to set prof. I think it 'could' be done without 6 months of work, and they may yet add another hero who knows. I can't wait to see what the hero armor upgrades look like, for Razah and the rest.

There are always "brute force" ways to solve problems like this. As a cheap example, they could have given you ten Razahs in your Add Hero drop down box, one for each primary profession, with a simple check to prevent you from adding more than one Razah (add one, the other nine disappear or become greyed out.) The hero armor and runes would have been easy to deal with then, they'd just stay attached to their Razah.
They probably decided that would look bad, because it's at the very least an inelegant solution, and of course it leads to horrible things like giving you extra places to store runes, insignias and weapons you're not using. (And not to mention adds considerably to the amount of data that needs to be kept track of for each character.)
Still, it would have been nifty to have a truly variable hero. I think they put a lot of thought into the idea, and the buzz that it created got a lot of our hopes up. It's a shame it fell through.

So; now that the Domain of Anguish is live anyone found where to get him in PvE yet? Remember; the quest for him may not neccessarily be in the Domain of Anguish.

Now lets see this.
If you read the whole text about Razah he is born from the Mists as a copy of a worthy human, yes. Assume the variable as it said, depends on what kind of human he gets born from. But then, he is already born from a human (in the story) and that human was then ritualist. That makes him ritualist.
I am sure this is not how Anet thought, but please stop complain. When most of you talk it seems like Anet personally promised you that he will be that, but they didnt!
Also i think it says somewhere in the install thing that they have the right to change whatever they want, they made the game, they own the game. Stop play if you dislike it that much.
I can give you many ways to how "variable" still fits. Just think about his history. Every NPC in this game is ment to have a history, and this "variable" thing might as well be in that history of his.
Sure i hoped for a copy of my own char, but so what, i think he look cool.
And why he took time? Didnt you know everything isnt so possible with programming. What if the time was based on They trying to satisfy what You needed but it didnt work so they made a ritualist. Try it yourself befor complaining.
Also he his special because he is so horrible hard to get in PvE. I have given up i must say, im gonna wait untill someone find out a build that rocks. If it doesnt involve my ele, i buy the gemstones or maybe fight my way trough the game with my other characters.
Over and out for me

You need 4 gems to proceed from Abaddon's Gate, though. I assume these are quest rewards, you can at least get them from completing the "main" quest of the DoA by killing the main boss. Hopefully this won't be the only way to get gems and Razah.
